Melanie Marttila

Speculations Columnist

Melanie was inspired to write by the fabulous fantasy art of Siobhan Riddell and made her first submission at age seven. Her writer’s journey has been fraught with threshold guardians but after beating the big boss (A.K.A. Inner Editor), she’s levelled up. Ding!

She lives and writes in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, in the house in which three generations of her family have lived, on the street that bears her family name. Her spouse, Phil (A.K.A. Mr. Science) is her primary fact-checker and inspirational conversation dude.

During the day, Melanie is a certified (insert joke-of-choice here) corporate trainer. You can find her short science fiction in Bastion Science Fiction Magazine (“The Broken Places,” June 2014) and On Spec Magazine (“Downtime,” Fall 2014). Melanie is currently working on her seventh novel, the third in an epic fantasy series.
