It’s a great resource particularly for last names and nicknames. It’s also very portable — if I set a story in Los Angeles, I can pull names from the L.A. Times for an L.A. flavor; if I do Washington State, they come from the Seattle P.I. etc.

It’s got meanings, related names, names organized around themes and more. The themes are particularly helpful if you want to echo certain aspects of the plot or setting in character names. If it’s done subtly it can enhance the reading experience.
