If this website were a campus, the DIY MFA podcast would be the school’s radio station. Hosted by instigator Gabriela Pereira, this show emulates the traditional MFA speaker series where authors and industry experts speak to students about writing, but makes these conversations accessible to anyone with an internet connection.

About the DIY MFA Podcast
This show began as a series of solo episodes with Gabriela jamming about writing topics that struck her fancy with a few interviews sprinkled in for fun. Those interviews became so popular that Gabriela soon started doing more and more. Eventually this podcast has become a popular weekly interview show featuring bestselling authors, debuts, and experts in the publishing industry.
In each episode Gabriela and her guest do a deep dive into one specific aspect of writing, looking either at the craft, the business side, or both. Listen in while Gabriela and her guest geek out over books, writing, and all things literary.

Suggest a guest!
Do you know an author who would be perfect for the show? Email your pitch with information about the author’s most recent (or forthcoming) book to producer Bess Cosby at podcast [at] DIY MFA [dot] com. Please be sure to highlight the hook for this author’s interview and why you think they would be a good fit for the show.
If the guest you’re suggesting is not an author, that’s fine too. We often host guests who are not writers themselves, people like agents, editors, marketing experts, even an image consultant. What matters most is that this expert can speak to a topic that will inspire and inform our word nerd audience. Make sure to highlight why this expert would be relevant to our listeners, and what new perspective they can add to discussions about publishing and marketing.
